Description

The starting point for this artwork was a ceramic object we found in 2020. We documented it and sent it to an archaeologist for examination, who dated it to 400 B.C. and told us what it has been used for. With this new knowledge, we started to interact with the piece differently than before. Based on the information we gained, we used photogrammetry technology* to create three new shapes in collaboration with a software that tried to build the original purpose and shape of the artifact. Through this approach, we investigated the leading role that archeology and archives play in historical narratives, where the line between real and fictional overlaps.

This project revolves around how we comprehend the concept of materiality, by how it is appropriated and involved in human projects within specific social and historical contexts.
