THE EGGSCAPE is the absurd yet true story of a Bronze Age statuette from Sardinia, illegally excavated from an archaeological site and moved to a man’s windowsill. Through the voice of the artifact, we follow its story: what it observes from its new home and the relationships it develops with the man, passersby, plants, and a turkey. 

The structure was inspired by the scaffolding that often surrounds archaeological sites. Combined with a steel mesh, it creates a space that invites the audience to engage with the narrative. This space can be perceived both as a cage and a prison, while also alluding to museum storage areas where objects are kept out of the viewer’s sight. 

Given the fluid and ever-changing nature of history, the photographs appear as mobile elements capable of taking on new meanings depending on time and place. Most of the images are therefore not fixed, but can leave the structure and be displayed elsewhere, continuing to reshape their narratives.

Materials:
Silver gelatine analogue prints, inkjet prints, metal coated in silver gelatine emulsion, xerox prints on photocopy paper and acetate, aluminium frames, magnets, metal structure, stainless steel net.

“What he sees from his favourite windowsill” comprises new works developed from the ongoing project “THE EGGSCAPE”,  the absurd yet true story of a Bronze Age statuette illegally unearthed from an archaeological site and moved to someone’s window sill. The artefact’s voice guides us through its history and what it sees from its new home, the relationships it develops with the person, the passersby, the plants, and the animals around.  

Materials:
Silver gelatine prints, analogue C-prints, glass and plexiglass coated in silver gelatine emulsion, xerox prints on photocopy paper and acetate, magnets, aluminium frames, aluminiun plates, aluminium tape.
